Happiness is: {The perfect faux suede biker jacket}

This time of year is a bit challenging weather-wise isn’t it?

Too warm to wear a winter coat, too cold not to. And here-in lies the problem. What is a girl to do?

I’m definitely not wanting to give in totally and dig out my winter woolies just yet. The weather has only just turned and — not wanting to put a dampener on things — we’ve got months of cold weather ahead.

Anyway — I’ve come accross the perfect transitional jacket and just wanted to share my findings!

Can you see me? Note how I’m cleverly blending into background!

The lovely folk at River Island sent me this cute little faux suede biker jacket, back in the summer, and it’s totally coming in to it’s own at the moment. It’s perfect for this time of year.

It works so well with jeans but also looks fab over dresses with chunky knit tights.

I went for the light grey version but — if that doesn’t float your boat — there are eight different colourways to choose from. There’s a gorgeous autumnal burgundy or if you want to make a real statement — and stand out from the crowd — it’s also available in hot pink.

And at a bargainous sixty quid, it’s a steal. It’s one one of those key-pieces that manages to span the seasons and works for lots of different occasions too.

This jacket ticks all the boxes — the perfect balance of edgy/sensible mum-wear

Gorgeous detailing

Perfectly Practical

It’s got some lovely details — not too fussy — chunky silver zips and rivets; plus shoulder epaulettes, with popper fastenings.

And it’s super soft.

PLUS it’s washable. Unlike a real suede jacket.

Mine has been washed twice, since I’ve had it, and has come up like new each time. And that, my friends, is one of the key selling points for me.

It’s all very well and good having something lovely to wear but as a busy mama with two small (grubby) children, anything that has a dry cleaning label inside is given a rather wide berth.

Long gone are the days that I could wear a garment two or three times, before I admitted defeat and packed it off to the dry cleaners.

These days, my clothes don’t tend to get through breakfast without having jammy fingers wiped on them.

Works with Breton — always a bonus in my opinion

I love these little epaulettes — and the shiny rivets

This little jacket might look edgy but is still a *little* bit sensible.

Perfect for us mums who still want to retain a semblance of style, without spending a fortune on dry cleaning bills.

So there we have it.

The perfect faux suede biker jacket. A stylish (and practical) answer to my seasonal style dilemmas, in one buttery soft, pale grey package.

Because practical doesn’t have to mean dull after all.

You’re so right, practical doesn’t mean you have to be boring!

Same!! I steered clear from suede, long necklaces, dangly earrings and anything white for YEARS. Just starting to pick up where I left off!! ;)
