On new rugs and being indecisive | Featuring My Rug Store

Back in July I chose a new rug for my she-shed.

I spent a long time deciding on the colour, size and style.

I deliberated over patterns (I wanted something quite geometric).

Mulled over sizes (I needed something large enough to cover the main area of my work space to keep me cosy in the winter months).

Then after trawling the internet (for what felt like an age) finally found the perfect one from a fantastic online shop, aptly named My Rug Store.

The rug arrived quickly — all wrapped up in it’s plastic covering — then literally sat in the corner, patiently waiting for my shed to be finished, so it can be laid out in pride of place. Poor rug.

Until now.

Last weekend, with my dining room makeover almost complete, I suddenly decided that my new rug would be the perfect finishing touch.

So I’ve essentially ‘stolen’ it off myself!! Is it even possible to do that?

It’s SO gorgeous!!! I’m totally and utterly delighted with it.

My Rug Store had a fair few geometric designs to choose from but I had plumped for the Medina rug in black; a Kilim rug with a bold black and white diamond pattern. On paper it could have been fairly dark, busy and a little overpowering but it’s surpassed all expectations and upon closer inspection it’s more a soft charcoal grey and absolutely stunning.

Not sure if it’s feasible to fall in love with a rug but I have pretty strong feelings towards this one, let me tell you!

It’s a flat rug, woven from 100% wool pile, and it feels much, much more expensive than it’s £199.99 price-tag. It feels so soft — it’s almost like touching silk — and feels amazing underfoot.

It works so beautifully.

I couldn’t decide where I wanted it initially — and originally had it in middle of the room (as the Medina works well in high traffic areas) — but after careful consideration, I’ve popped it under the dining table.

It looks like it was made to be there and gives the dining area real focus; plus it’s great to have a floorcovering underneath to table, to protect the carpet from messy eaters!

To run the risk sounding like a stuck record, I’m so, so pleased with it. If you’re looking for well priced, fabulous quality rugs I highly, highly recommend My Rug Store.

The only negative to this story is that now I am left with no rug in my she-shed. But hey! There are definitely worse problems to have. It gives me the perfect opportunity to go shopping again, especially as My Rug Store currently have an autumn sale on and I could get up to 60% off.

Happy days!

This is a collaborative post but all thoughts, words and images — as ever — are entirely my own.

    1. Thanks lovely — yep — slightly flummoxed now. I was going to just ‘borrow’ the new rug to style my dining room pics but it looks SO good in there. Definitely a keeper. Got to think of a plan B for my she-shed!!

  2. It’s a beautiful rug. I have been looking at rugs for months now. Never making a final decision and oops now I have another site to check out.

  3. Of course it’s possible to fall in love with a rug. My current love affair is with wallpaper so it has to be. Also perfectly fine to steal from yourself. It looks fab – you are a lady after my own heart. Thank you for hosting #HomeEtc

  4. I love that rug. I have just bought some grey geometric curtains for my living/dining room and I absolutely love them, I can see me becoming a little obsessed with Geometric. Thankyou for hosting #HomeEtc x

  5. Your new rug looks great, I have a thing for geometric rugs and the one you picked out is very similar to one we have in our living room. We need some new rugs for our home, so I will be off to check them out! xxx
