147 weeks and 1 day | Me and Mine {December}

Another year over.

Tomorrow morning we’ll be waking up and it will be January.

Two thousand and sixteen. Sounds really space-age does’t it?!

Particularly as we’ve now passed the date that Doc, Marty and Jennifer went back to, in the film Back to The Future. That date seemed like light years away, in the late 1980s. A whole lifetime ago, come to think of it.

I thought that I’d finish this year with my final Me and Mine diary entry — just as I did last year. Such a difference 12 months makes; this time last year my dad had been rushed into hospital — just 5 days before — and was recovering from life-saving surgery.

Everything was in a weird state of limbo — we didn’t know if he was going to pull through — he had been on life support for 48 hours after the op and things were very much still in the lap of the gods.

Thankfully he did pull though and made a full — if not speedy — recovery.

Following a rocky start, this year gave us so many lovely things.

We had a little family holiday at Bluestone in Wales. Our first proper holiday as a family. And even though it was only for 4 days, it was fab to get away.

We’ve been to festivals; Camp Bestival, Glastonbury and Shambala. We bought a new caravan. I met my blogging buddies for the first time, at Blogcamp and the Mads Awards.

I won an award.

We’ve had numerous weekends away — with friends and family — and generally had a lovely year.

There has been some sadness too.

My lovely nana passed away in May.  And later in the year, my dear friend Julia lost her husband Rog — and I lost one of my favourite school-friends, Jenni — to cancer.

2015 has been a mixed year, in that respect.

But leaves me with an overwhelming sense of gratitude.

I’m so, so thankful for my health. For my three beautiful boys; big man-shaped boy and two tiny boys. This life — although dull and ordinary by some people’s standards — is filled with so much magic and happiness. I look at the photos that have been taken over the last 12 months and feel utterly blessed to have been born so lucky.
