Home Etc #28

Technology. It’s an extraordinary thing isn’t it?

Due to unforeseen circumstances — and a technological malfunction — I’m currently  sitting in a service station on the M1.

However. Due to technological wizardry I am writing my blog post in Costa Coffee, whilst sipping a Flat White and demolishing a pack of mini Stollen bites.

Such is the nature of the beast; what technology takes away with one hand, it gives back ten-fold with the other.

Anyway, I digress. Back to this week’s Home Etc!

Jess — from mummyofboygirltwins — and I love hosting this little blog link up. Home Etc is a weekly linky for any bloggers who have written posts that include interiors, DIY, garden or allotment, crafting or up-cycling. If you’re an interiors (or exterior) nut, we’d be delighted for you to come and link up with us!

Our first favourite post from last week came from Lizzie at Marmalade Pie.

I’m always a sucker for a creative upcycle and this little gem ticked all the boxes for me!

Lizzie had taken an innocuous little cutlery tray and — with a little bit of patience and creativity — turned it into a fabulous display cabinet for her family’s miniature treasures.

I have seen similar in some fairly pricey homeware shops and you could probably make ten of these for the price that some of them are selling for! Such a fab idea and a lovely way to display your tiny bits and pieces.

Our second favourite post came from Sarah who writes over at the blog Extraordinary Chaos.

She’d taken a sad little desk, that she’d bought of Ebay, and given it a fabulous facelift!

I absolutely LOVE up-cycling furniture. I gave a little IKEA chest of drawers a new lease of life earlier in the year with new handles and a lick of paint. It’s amazing what you can do, with a bit of imagination :)

Sarah’s desk is the perfect example of that.

Well done ladies — a fab job from both of you and you’re now in the running to scoop this month’s prize from our generous sponsor HomeSense.

The winner of the next prize will be announced in 2 weeks time!

Thanks so much for linking up with Jess and me — we love reading your posts and are so happy to be hosting this home and garden inspired blog hop.

All we ask is that you follow these 3 little rules:

1) Please include our lovely #HomeEtc badge at the bottom of your post.

The Twinkle Diaries

2) You may link up to two posts — new or old (sometimes the old posts are forgotten about, so please dust them down and show them off; we’d love to read them!)  — but no more than two posts each week please.

3) Please be kind enough to comment on your HOSTS’ POSTS which will always be the first two entries in the link up — plus a couple of others. Blog hops only work if you’re as generous with your comments as you are at sharing your posts.

Be sure to tweet —@twinklediaries or @soot1978 — with the url to your post, using the hashtag #HomeEtc and Jess or I will always retweet (sometimes both of us if you’re lucky)! ;)

Finally, Jess and I will pick one favourite post each week then at the end of the month we’ll choose an overall winner. This lucky blogger will receive a £20 voucher from our fabulous sponsor!

Psst… as well as HomeSense the voucher can also be spent in TK Maxx!

Thanks so much for linking up all your lovely home and garden inspired posts. We look forward to reading more of the same this week! The linky portal is open until 11.58pm on Saturday, so lots of time to join in.

Lots of love,

Caro & Jess x

Haha!! I was DEFINITELY worth having a technological malfunction so I had a bonafide reason to sit in Costa — eating cake — for a hour, that’s for sure!! ;)

Indeed, not a bad place to be. Hope your biscuits were scrummy. I am so pleased you chose Sarah’s post – I absolutely ADORE what she did! I want and need one in my life. I STILL haven’t got round to doing my little project I have been meaning to do for the past 2 years. Xx

I love it. What a lovely round up of faves too. Homesense is the best for finding one offs for the home. I love that place.
