Home Etc #141

So on Monday I wrote a post in celebration of the clocks going forward — rejoicing the fact that spring *finally* seems to have joined the party.

Then yesterday it was cold, grey and wet.

Which is the weather report for the foreseeable future.

Okayyyyyyyyy.

Perhaps I should learn to celebrate quietly and not tempt fate?!

With Easter just a mini-eggs breadth away, I’ve got my eyes firmly set on the holidays and I was hoping for a little more of the sunshine that we saw last weekend.

I can’t wait to ditch my rain-mac and get outdoors properly — tidy the garden up — but I also want to use the Easter break to make a start on some of the DIY jobs that have been stacking up.

One of the things that’s been on the list for a while is painting the staircase in our cottage. It’s natural — aged — pine at the moment and I keep toying with the idea of painting it white… shall I?

Shan’t I?

I change my mind as often as the British weather.

I think I’m erring on the side of painting it, after seeing the lovely job Amelia from Oh Little One Sweet made of their hallway.

Home Etc Favourite

She was our Home Etc favourite from last week.

I absolutely love ‘before and after’ posts and hers was no exception.

I won’t spoil it by showing the ‘before’ picture — pop and have a read of her post if you missed it. But I will show a couple of ‘after’ pics.

Let’s just say it looks like a totally different house.

I love the fresh white and grey — with pops of green coming from the foliage. Well done Amelia — your name is in the hat to win next month’s voucher from our fabulous sponsor Laura Ashley.

For anyone who’s like to share blog posts in this week’s linky, have a little read of our house rules.

HOME ETC HOUSE-RULES

1) Please include our lovely #HomeEtc badge at the bottom of your post.

The Twinkle Diaries

2) You may link up to two posts — new or old (sometimes the old posts are forgotten about, so please dust them down and show them off; we’d love to read them!) — but no more than two posts each week please.

3) Please be kind enough to comment on your HOSTS’ POST which will always be the first entry in the link up — plus a couple of others. Blog hops only work if you’re as generous with your comments as you are at sharing your posts.

Please be sure to tweet —@twinklediaries or @BooandMaddie — with the url to your post, using the hashtag #HomeEtc and Lins or I will retweet (sometimes both of us if you’re lucky)! ;)

One favourite post will be chosen each week. Then at the end of the month we’ll choose an overall winner. This lucky blogger will receive a £20 voucher from our fabulous sponsor!

Aah thanks so much for featuring me- you’ve made my day! 😊 I was nervous about painting the old wood staircase but it’s so fresh and bright now and it was definitely a huge transformation of a dark space xx

You’re so welcome lovely!! I love seeing before and after posts — they’re definitely my fave kind of interiors post!! It’s all very well seeing nice home pics but if you can’t see what it was like in the first place, it’s not as impactful!!! I think I’m set on painting our staircase now…. wish me luck!!!!! xx
