Spotlight on… | Bodie and Fou

My boy and I have had to really tighten our belts over the last couple of years.

Anyone who says ‘Ooh — twins — two for the price of one!’ may think they’re being  hilarious, but really? Two children (at the same time) are most definitely two for the price of two. My bank account is, very sadly, testimony to this!

Yet I have still managed to retain my (very unfair) title of ‘shopaholic’. It’s actually rubbish as I tend to window shop, more than buy, these days.

And here’s why…

We used to live in a town that has arguably one of the best high streets in the UK, outside of London; SpaceNK, Cath Kidston, The White Company, JoJo Maman Bebe, Suzie Watson, the list goes on… and if I was working from home, I used to regularly pop out in my lunch break and indulge a little retail therapy.

Fast forward 4 years and we now live in a village. We do not have a Starbucks or a Phase Eight or a gazillion little independent shops of gorgeousness on every street corner. No Siree Bob. Nope.

We have a Londis. And a Post Office. Not the retail establishments I’m used to, I can tell you.

So what is a girl to do?

Well. I can tell you… internet window shopping is nearly as rewarding as the real thing. I get to browse — at my leisure — without being coughed on or jostled by other shoppers (unless you include the twins of course) to my hearts content.

And for an avid shopper like me, this is a good compromise. Especially as I can buy and try at home.

Granted, it’s not quite as thrilling as spotting something from a thousand yards, winking at you from a  shop-window, but still… a girl can’t have everything. I wouldn’t change village life for anything, so this is a good alternative!

One of my favourite things is finding new ‘shops’ and brands to swoon over.

It’s always lovely to find a website selling lots of lovely items and Bodie and Fou is my latest retail love affair.

The latest pieces that caught my eye are pictured above.

I love the:

1. Industrial clip-on light £85.00 —
A gorgeous task-light to shed light on my desk — especially on dark days like today.

2. Farm poster £19.20 —
I LOVE this — it would go beautifully in the boys room and it’s a bargain.
My credit card is calling…

3. Gaivota Rocking chair £1020.00 —
OK. So this is pricey— and not a ‘whim’ purchase. It’s an investment piece but it’s timeless, beautiful and will be passed down in time and cherished.

4. Nomad Embroidered Linen Pouffe, Coral £125.00 —
Perfect as extra, occasional seating or great for the little ones to sit on too. In glorious, sunny coral.

In a nutshell Bodie and Fou is stocked with beautiful items for the home, the kids — and stylish bits and pieces for me.

What’s not to love?

*Editors Note — sadly, since this article was written, Bodie and Fou is no longer! Another one bites the dust!
