Cardooo Cards Review — The card that keeps on giving

A brand new year means another 12 months of birthdays ahead — it was my godson’s birthday yesterday, funnily enough —time to stock up the card drawer! So what are the best birthday cards for children, when there is so much choice available? Cardooo cards. Without question.

The greetings card industry is huge.

As I have designed greetings cards myself (and still sell a small range of them on Not On The High Street) I can say this with some conviction. One year, I went to a big show called Top Drawer to check out the competition and ended up feeling totally and utterly overwhelmed by just how many companies were out there, trying to get a slice of the action.

What do you do to stand out? How can you make your cards shine amongst all of the others on the market?

Do something a little bit different, that’s what.

And that’s exactly what the team at Cardooo Cards have done.

What are Cardooo Cards?

Their range of childrens’ greetings cards definitely offer something a little bit different. Their secret is, they’re not just a card, they’re more like a comic — or a little activity pack.

Whilst traditional cards are opened, read and sit on a mantlepiece for a week (if they’re lucky!) the Cardooo cards will give hours of amusement (well after the birthday cake has been eaten and the other cards have been sent off to be recycled).

Tailored to the age group — or gender — of the child, not only do they offer a traditional birthday greeting, they also provide entertainment, in the form of colouring, stories, puzzles and — my boys’ absolute favourite — stickers!

Why do we love them?

They’re such a fantastic concept and a selection of their age range cards — suitable for boys and girls aged 4-7, plus non age-specific dinosaur and fairy cards — are now being stocked at ASDA stores across the UK and in Ireland, priced at just £3.

That’s less than a standard kids comic; which don’t ever seem to keep my kids amused for longer than it takes to rip the plastic tat off the front of them.

So cost-wise, the Cardooo cards are a bargain.

Even more of a bargain when I consider that these cards kept my boys happy for a whole afternoon over the Christmas holidays!! You can’t put a price on that, to be honest ;)

More Than Just a Card

There’s nothing they like better than sticking and colouring — so I think they’d be a great thing to put away for a rainy day or to take on a plain or train, to keep little one’s entertained during a journey.

These little cards are a genius idea. I’m going to buy a stack of them for my emergency card drawer; safe in the knowledge that — whoever receives one — will be delighted.

But not quite as delighted as their parents, who’ll be virtually high-fiving me for giving them a peaceful afternoon, whilst little Johnny is entertained by his Cardooo birthday card!

These cards are so fab that I thought they warranted a little film. So, as well as the still shots, you can really see what they’re all about.

Please share, if you like this!

  1. Now see what a great invention. I have this hate for cards because they get opened, loved for a moment and tossed and wasting trees and the environment blahblah for that moment of feeling special but hours of fun for kids especially I love it!!! Thanks for linking up to Share With Me. #sharewithme

  2. These look so great – little ones aren’t interested in cards really are they? Pickle is obsessed with stickers so would love to have one of these. Kaz x

    1. Having a card drawer is the best thing ever! I hate not being prepared or having a card to send on someone’s birthday — I’m definitely going to be stocking up on the Cardooo cards!

  3. These look lovely Caro – what a great idea! I think that is a very reasonable price too bearing in mind the average price of a card in Clintons for example. Such a good idea to get more use out of a card. Thanks for sharing #TwinklyTuesday

    1. I totally totally agree!! I was really surprised when I found out the price — I thought they’d be a couple of quid more! A really pleasant surprise to see how reasonable they are. And the kids absolutely LOVED them!

  4. We reviewed these a while back and really loved them. In fact, I think one is in the bookcase still! Much better than an ordinary card

    1. They’re AMAZING aren’t they?! I think for 3 quid they’re a really fantastic idea. Anything that keeps my boys occupied for an afternoon gets a massive thumbs up from me :)

  5. What cute little cards! There really are so many to choose from these days and like that these ones are a little different! x

    1. Aah Alice — they’re amazing!! If I think how many comics I’ve bought — which have ended up ripped up all over the house after 15 minutes!! These cards are cheaper and kept the boys happy for HOURS!
