Blue suede shoes (and boots)

It’s been a weird old start to the year hasn’t it?

This week it’s flip-flop weather; we’ve had a run of gloriously sunny days and everyone is saying that spring has been given the push by the early arrival of summer.

But last week, winter made a comeback — all guns blazing — and Saturday afternoon we had a hail storm and torrential rain of biblical proportions.

Good.

Although it’s not, because it’s playing havoc with my wardrobe choices. Go out in sandals and realise (when the heavens open) that wellies would have been more appropriate.

Go out in winter boots and, later on in the day when the sun is beating down, I’m wishing I had opted for my Berks instead.

I find the mere *thought* of wearing clumpy black or brown boots in spring quite disturbing. It’s even more depressing when I’m having to actually wear them.

I want colour in my life — and something a little more stylish than a pair of UGG’s (sorry UGG) — at this time of year.

Enter my newest favourite item of footwear.

My beautiful new ankle boots from Jones Bootmaker.

OK, so they are still boots but they’re a million miles away from my winter boots — they’re a vision in petrol blue suede.

They’re by Fly London — uber stylish footwear designers — and super comfy to boot (if you’ll pardon the pun).

My friend from uni had a pair of red Fly boots and I always coveted them . They always look very cool and slightly quirky. I’ve got my eye on a pair of their sandals too but I’m certainly not going to be investing in them until the weather finally decides what it’s doing!

That said, as we live in the UK, I may be waiting some time for that to happen.

Anyway. There we have it folks.

The perfect boot for when the seasons are battling against each other and you’re not 100% certain if it’s winter, spring or even summer.

And as the King of Rock and Roll once said;

You can burn my house
Steal my car
Drink my liquor
From an old fruitjar
But don’t you step on my blue suede shoes

Not yet anyway — they’re brand new and I haven’t Scotch-guarded them ;)

Many thanks to Jones Bootmaker for providing my feet with a bit of colour — and  protection from the elements. The Mel boots from Fly London are currently on sale for £55 (down from £110).

Hurry along and snap up a pair whilst you still can!

  1. Ooh, very nice indeed. My friend and neighbour wears this style of boot all the time. I must ask if it is the same brand. She has several pairs in various versions of that kind of model.
You are right about the weather. This in-between time of year is a pain in the you know what when it comes to footwear.

  2. Oh wow they are gorgeous, so nice to see something in a different colour for a change. I keep trying to find some ankle boots which will look as good with jeans and leggings as they would with a skirt. I have recently discovered Jones Bootmaker close to where I live so will be paying them a visit.
