116 weeks and 1 day | The One and Only Adult Colouring Books

There are some things in life that I still enjoy, now I’m an adult,  just as much as I did when I as a child. An ice-cream with a flake (from an actual ice-cream van), paddling in the sea, kicking a big pile of crunchy autumn leaves and I’ve since found out that ‘colouring in’ is one of those things!

There has been a huge resurgence in colouring books recently — even our village post office has been selling a few. But none I’ve seen are quite as lovely as ‘The One and Only Adult Colouring Books’ that come from Phoenix Yard Books.

These are pretty spectacular, let me tell you; beautifully designed and full of intricate, black and white patterns to colour in.

Initially I very nearly dismissed them, thinking it was a childish thing to be doing, but on receipt of these gorgeous books, I got  totally immersed in their designs and once I started colouring, I had to keep coming back to do a little more! A bit like a jigsaw — you just can’t leave it alone!

If you want to do something gently creative — and very relaxing — this is the hobby for you.  You can totally transport yourself away and while away the hours, crayoning these beautiful patterns.

Keep your knitting  — colouring in is where it’s at these days ;)

I’ve got three of these beautiful books to give away to one lucky winner. All you need to do is enter via the Rafflecopter below.

Good luck — and happy colouring :)

Oh my I almost started hyperventilating when I saw those beautiful coloured pencils, let alone the gorgeous colouring books! I’ve just been reading about how if you struggle to meditate to try colouring books instead as they give the same effect. I need me some of those colouring books!!!! ;)

    • 5th Jun 2015 / 9:49 am

I can absolutely see that Kay — it really makes you focus your mind and forget everything. I can really see the parallels with meditation! Good luck! :)

What a coincidence! Just a day or two ago one of my friends posted a pic on FB of a coloring book she’s working on. I could definitely see these being my end-of-the-day wind down. Thanks for doing the giveaway – hope U.S. residents are eligible. :-)

  40. 9th Jun 2015 / 11:27 am

I didn’t know about these! That is amazing. I love drawing & other artistic endeavours, but drawing something yourself takes more work & thought. Colouring in is relaxing. I definitely need to start this! Love this post. #TwinklyTuesday

    • 9th Jun 2015 / 11:44 am

I’d like to start colouring and would be good for relaxing

  43. 9th Jun 2015 / 2:25 pm

It sounds on first thought children, but on further thought, therapeutic. To just sit and colour … ‘creativity’ is the word that comes to mind. In anycase, you could do it as modelling colouring for children too. You can see I’m warming up to the idea. Thanks for sharing :-) #TwinklyTuesday

    • 9th Jun 2015 / 3:18 pm

I felt JUST the same!! Then I started colouring a page and couldn’t leave it alone!! It’s very addictive :)

  44. 9th Jun 2015 / 3:35 pm

    I find colouring so therapeutic!

    • 9th Jun 2015 / 4:06 pm

Me too Sarah! It’s one of those things that I had totally forgotten about… once you start you can’t leave it alone. I was doing a bit here and a bit there until it was finished :)

  45. 9th Jun 2015 / 4:09 pm

I love these! I really need to get myself one (but entered the comp… just in case!)

I’m rubbish at drawing but think I would find it so relaxing.

    Thanks for hosting #twinklytuesday

    • 10th Jun 2015 / 4:18 pm

HA!! Aint it the truth!! So nice to see some ‘grown up’ patterns!! And not something that’s covered in Peppa Pig ;)

  51. Jillanne David

Aaah bless you Jillanne — insomnia is so fun at all. Fingers crossed for you! x

  52. 9th Jun 2015 / 9:53 pm

Oooh! I was reading about how adult colouring books are a massive thing for women in France – these looks great and would be great after being glued to a computer screen for work all day and then all night!

    • 10th Jun 2015 / 4:15 pm

Amen to that! It was SO lovely to do something that didn’t include staring at either my phone screen or the computer monitor! Such a nice change!

  53. 9th Jun 2015 / 10:06 pm

I just recently discovered these too! I bought Millie Marotta’s Animal Kingdom. I haven’t started yet as I am afraid of ruining it. I have never been one for colouring inside the lines haha. xxx

I love to win because I’ve never stopped colouring but kids picture books just don’t provide a challenge.

    • 10th Jun 2015 / 4:54 pm

These would be pretty challenging after a kids book! They’re so intricate :) Good luck :)

  55. Katie Battle
    10th Jun 2015 / 7:43 am

I would live to win these adult colouring books to unwind. I have just done my final exam for my degree after 7 years of study and would like to do something relaxing on an evening for a change and I love colouring ;) x

    • 10th Jun 2015 / 4:57 pm

Aaah you definitely need to relax after all that study Katie!! Good luck :)

  56. 10th Jun 2015 / 8:01 am

I’d love to win for a number of reasons but mostly because I’d love to have some colouring books of my own (ones that mummy can colour in!) don’t get me wrong I love Disney Princesses (for my 3 year old daughter) and cars/trucks (for my 2 year old son) but it’d be nice to have a change!
And also it might help me not go insane when they’re driving me round the twist in the day!!

    • 10th Jun 2015 / 5:18 pm

Yep — amen to that Vickie!! It’s LOVELY to have something for ourselves that we don’t have to share with the kids isn’t it?! Good luck x

  57. Kirsteen Mackay
    10th Jun 2015 / 9:12 am

I’d love to win these books for taking a few minutes time out to relax during a stressful day. Also a nice thing to do outside on a sunny day, away from screens and technology distractions.

    • 10th Jun 2015 / 4:42 pm

Doing something away from a screen is rare these days isn’t it? I’m not surprised that these have caught on in such a big way! x

  58. Spencer Wright
    10th Jun 2015 / 1:16 pm

My wife got into colouring shortly after Christmas, as a way to relax. We’re having loads of problems with our 12 year old daughter (not sure yet if it’s Aspergers, autism, teenage hormones or if she’s just a ratbag!) and there’s always tension in the house when she’s at home. Colouring has helped my wife to switch off from it for a little while & recharge her mental batteries :) She says I should try it, particularly colouring books featuring animals or travel. Fingers crossed!

    • 10th Jun 2015 / 4:48 pm

Amazing isn’t it? Such a simple thing and is amazingly relaxing and de-stressing!

  59. 10th Jun 2015 / 1:56 pm

I just saw these on the shelf of a shop…I would love to colour away some child free hours (wonder if I’ll get some funny looks in a spa break colouring in these) #twinklytuesday

    • 10th Jun 2015 / 4:41 pm

I’ll bet you wouldn’t be the only one colouring in on a Spa break!!! I bet they’ll all be at it — it’s the new thing!! ;)

  62. Natalia
    10th Jun 2015 / 7:42 pm

I honestly think this idea for a giveaway is so lovely! I think I’d love to win these colouring books simply because recently I found out how relaxing colouring is. I’ve been under a lot of stress lately and seeing how my friend was colouring suddenly made me way calmer. I was thinking of colouring as of something that kids would do but who cares what age we are? If we enjoy it, we should do it more often!

    • 11th Jun 2015 / 9:26 pm

I totally agree Natalia. And actually — how many stressed kids do we see?! Perhaps if more adults took up colouring, the world would be a less stressy, nicer place! :) Good luck!

    • 11th Jun 2015 / 9:27 pm

They’re really lovely — I was totally hooked after about 10 minutes!! Fingers crossed xx

    • 13th Jun 2015 / 1:28 pm

Aaah I LOVE that!! I love the fact she’s off, making her own outlines!! What a gorgeous thing to say! x
