105 weeks and 1 day | Technology {captured moments 6.02.2015}

These captured moments are only from last month.

As my dad had been in hospital over Christmas, I hadn’t given the boys their presents from my parents as I thought it would be nice to wait — until both my mum and dad could see their grandsons open the gifts they’d chosen for them.

So in February, we had a mini second Christmas! Sadly my daddy was still too ill to  come over and see us in person, so I set up a Facetime on the iPad and the boys unwrapped their presents with my mum and  dad watching!

It’s times like this I’m so grateful that we have this kind of amazing technology at our fingertips!

To be able to chat to my parents and have them in the room — virtually — when their little grandsons were opening the gifts they’d bought, was magical.

If you’d have gone back in time — even 10 years — this kind of technology in the home would have been considered space-age.

We’re so incredibly lucky to live in an era — and a country — where this kind of innovation is almost considered commonplace.

Technology is a beautiful thing, that’s for sure.

    Ah this is so wonderful. Such a great idea. I must admit, I am so behind the times and rarely use it. But I love the fact you have taken advantage of a great piece of technology for such a beautiful, personal family moment. Xx

      My dad bought my mom an iPad for her birthday in December and it’s been a BRILLIANT way to stay in touch with them!! The boys really love being able to see their nanna and poppa on the screen! :) x

      I don’t know!! It’s scary isn’t it?! These things that we rely on these days!! I feel like I’ve lost a limb if my phone battery dies when I’m out and about! x

  7. 24th March 2015 / 8:45 am

    Beautiful captured moment – technology is so wonderful for times like these, isn’t it. How lovely to have a second mini-Christmas. We also have that Playmobil zoo and my girls love it :-)

    • 24th March 2015 / 12:20 pm

      Thanks so much Louise! To be honest, a second Christmas is something we may continue with! The boys loved opened a present in February — they had so much at Christmas, itself, it was nice to keep a couple of things back! x

  8. 24th March 2015 / 10:38 am

    Gorgeous and I totally agree. We Skype all the time with both sets of my boy’s Grandparents. Very grateful that they can still feel like they’re a part of his life from thousands of miles away.

    • 24th March 2015 / 1:03 pm

      It’s something that I’m so grateful for! Although we live equidistant between both sets of our parents, it’s still a bit too far to just pop in! Being able to Facetime — and the boys to be able to see their grandparents — is a real gift. Also, as a result, it feels like they know them better than they would if we didn’t have regular virtual contact! x
