Colour Your World | #16 Pantone Lavender Herb

So funny to think that, when I started, I had no idea that it would take me nearly a full year to complete the 2015 palette.

I’m really looking forward to exploring the SS16 Pantone colour report and looking at all the new shades that have been selected for next year.

It’s been so lovely looking at all the different colours for 2015 — and finding product to fit the shade. Sometimes it’s been really tricky — the last two in the palette have been fairly tough — particularly this last one.

The last colour in the series for this year is Pantone Lavender Herb.

I think I found this really difficult because it’s such a summery shade! To think about pale purple in the midst of winter doesn’t really sit well with me.

This kind of colour conjures up warm breezes, summer dresses and lavender fields — not dreary, wet skies and Christmas decorations.

But hey. I thought I’d challenge myself so for this last Pantone post of the year, I thought I’d pull together a selection of wintery fashion and accessories, in tones of Pantone Lavender Herb.

5. Dusty Lavender Wellington Boots, Hunter — Coggles
6. Violet Eye Quartet — Clarins

So that’s it for the 2015 Pantone colour palette.

I’ve seen a fair few of the colours making an appearance, in the high street, throughout the year. Oddly, the 2015 colour of the year was not as prevalent as some of Pantone’s other predicted shades; I saw lots of zingy orange and gorgeous Woodbine but very little Marsala.

The 2016 colour predictions are lovely — here’s a sneak peek if you haven’t seen them already:—

Leatrice Eiseman — who is the Executive Director at the Pantone Colour Institute — says of these lovely vibrant shades:

‘Colors this season transport us to a happier, sunnier place where we feel free to express a wittier version of our real selves. With our culture still surrounded by so much uncertainty, we are continuing to yearn for those softer shades that offer a sense of calm and relaxation.’

And best of all Pantone have chosen — not one but — two colours of the year! Rose Quartz (a soft pale pink). And Serenity (a calming ethereal blue).

I LOVE the Rose Quartz shade and funnily enough have just painted my bath in a similar Farrow and Ball paint colour — Calamine — so am already on trend for next season ;)
